LIONEL 265E. 261TX, 619, 618 SILVER STREAK STREAMLINE PASSENGER SET.  Original.  Cataloged by Lionel only in 1935 makes this set quite scarce and sought after by collectors.  Most components of this set are unique to this set or to 1935 only production adding to it's appeal and rarity.  The engine has thick rim drive wheels, a die cast engineers cab with no firebox doors molded into the front of the cab wall (Subsequent version of the 265E had firebox doors molded into the inside cab wall to add weight for better traction.)  and no weight in the steam chest.  The tender with special draw bar came only in this set, the 619 head end car in chrome is found only in this set and the all chrome observation is only found in this set and one special Flying Yankee set.

The engine has been bench tested and runs and reverses fine.  The die cast engineers cab shows signs of deterioration inside, the outside of the cab is quite nice and still appears solid.  The all chrome cars from this era usually tend to show their age and these are no exception, still they are clean, bright cars that present well.  Two sliding shoe pick-ups are missing.  These are available from numerous parts vendors.

This is a nice example of one of the more unusual and hard to find Lionel streamliners from the 1930's.  Certainly a plus to any prewar streamliner collection.
